Landscaping Your Home for Spring and Fall

If you are thinking about or have already remodeled your home by adding on a deck or covered porch, now is the time to think about enhancing your investment with improvements to your landscape. Landscaping in the springtime is usually the best time to brighten up the look of your home with plants and flowers that will provide added color through the fall season.With the right landscaping plan, you can make that new deck or porch into an outdoor paradise. Even if your thumb is not so green, there are a wide variety of plants that require very little, if any maintenance—just add sun and water. Low maintenance perennials will come back each year and lessen the amount of time you will spend planting each spring.Most prefer to do their landscaping in the springtime before the weather gets too hot instead of dealing with the heat and putting the health of their new plants at risk. To achieve the best results, plan to start your landscaping projects after the last frost of the season and before temperatures are steadily above 85 degrees. If you plant too early, you may lose your plants to a hard frost. If you plant too late, your plants may not develop a healthy root system.

Custom sun room and deck in East Louisville

We’ve shared a couple of videos before on this project in Winchester Acres in east Louisville. The sun room is now complete and the homeowners have done a nice job with the finishing details.

The second video shows the deck we completed for the homeowners a while back. It’s a Trex product and nicely connects to the sun room.

Covered porch addition

I wanted to share a covered porch addition we recently completed on a custom home we built. The buyers of the home called us back to add on a screened-in porch. We posted the complete process on our Flickr account so you can see the progression from start to finish.

After the planning process and the finalizing of the quote, we started and finished this project in about five weeks. Some of our product had to be ordered from the factory so we would have no seams in the porch floor. This cost us a little time, but the end product was worth it.

Our homeowners were very satisfied with the porch when completed. They now enjoy the sunshine much more, as the “rays” don’t bake them and the rain doesn’t soak them when enjoying the outdoors.

Douglas Hills Deck Addition Louisville KY

Another Covered Deck Addition in Douglas Hills and another satisfied customer. If it seems like we’ve done a lot of these little custom remodels and additions this year, we have.
